Oak

Smoke

American Oak is an imported hardwood and ranges from pale yellow to mid-brown in colour. American Oak typically has a fine grain that is strong and visible with few markings or features. Please be advised that timber is a natural material with grain detail, colour and finishes subject to variation. The images presented online should therefore be used as a guideline only to the colour of your final product. Additionally solid timber will be more susceptible to movement in warmer climates. All of our timber adheres to Forestry Certification Standards.

Care

Timber is a natural product that will respond to its environmental conditions. With a little bit of care, your timber furniture will be part of your family for a long time. We recommend that you regularly wipe the timber surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust and dirt. Wipe up spills immediately with a damp cloth. Do not leave liquids to sit on timber surface, as it will penetrate and may cause staining. Please do not use cleaners or polishes, as these may cause permanent damage or colour variation to your furniture. Abrasive cleaning products are not recommended. Take care when placing or moving unglazed ceramics and other items with an irregular base finish as they may scratch the surface.

Depending on the position of the piece and the conditions of your home, we recommend re-oiling once a year. We advise having your furniture re-oiled at least once by our professional craftspeople to learn the correct application techniques. In some cases, an additional application may be required after the first six months. Do not use any cleaners or polishes as they may permanently damage your furniture.

The tone of the timber will alter over time with exposure to UV light. Please protect timber from direct or reflected sunlight. We recommend you avoid extreme variation in temperature and humidity, as well as contact with liquids and heat. Please be aware that in slab or underfloor heating can be damaging to solid timber products. This type of heating can cause the underside of your timber to dry out at a different speed to the top, which in turn can cause bowing, warping or cracking. We advise that you do not keep solid timber pieces on underfloor heating.

Please Note

Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the colours depicted on our website of materials and products accurately reflect the way they appear in person, Jardan advises that there may be variation between these due to a combination of factors including computer monitor, screen settings and lighting as well as a level of true variation in the products themselves. We work with many natural materials as well as handmade artisan products where a level of variation is to be expected and celebrated. It is therefore recommended that you view products in person prior to ordering where possible, or request swatches and additional information from our sales teams.
